How to make delicious chai every time

For a long time I wasn’t a fan of chai. It took some convincing for me to carry it in the La Rue 1680 store. I mean, I know people love chai but if I didn’t like it I wasn’t sure how to quality check. And it had to pass my check. The trick for me to start falling in love with it initially was lattes. Turn it into a latte. Problem solved.

But, recently on a voyage to India I realize what most Americans, and every coffee and tea shop I’ve ever been to got wrong. Steeping in water. Now, you can create something tasty in water too. As I said, turning it into a latte worked for me. But, when I tasted the creamy Indian blend, my experience was elevated. I was in love!!!

Here is the secret.

First, you need a high quality blend. La Rue 1680 has you covered there as we choose our leaves, herbs and spices by hand and import from India. We have quality you can see with whole ingredients. And loose leaf as always.

The next secret is to steep in milk instead of water. 🤦🏾‍♀️ It seems simple and an “of course” moment, and yet it’s almost always steeped in water. Water is much quicker and let’s face it, we have turned into a microwave society. But, if you have a couple of extra minutes, use one heaping tablespoon of our India Street Vanilla Chai  to 8 oz of milk. Allow to heat until a rich color is achieved. 5-8 mins. Strain and sweeten as needed.

It is truly a warm hug in a mug! And your chai experience will never again be the same.
